LINDER STATEMENT ON 2008 MARCH FOR LIFE

Congressman John Linder (GA-07) issued the following statement regarding the 2008 "March for Life" event:

"Today marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of the legalization of abortion through the Supreme Court decision of Roe-v-Wade. I want to express my strong support for the ‘March for Life' occurring today as thousands in the pro-life movement gather again on behalf of life."

"I am saddened at the thought of the over 48 million lives lost in the United States alone over the past thirty-five years. How much more enriched would our country and our world be if these lives existed? One cannot help but wonder about the contributions they would have made."

"I believe it is imperative that everyone who considers abortion be offered the opportunity to view, through sonograms and ultrasounds, the lives they are considering ending. These images of a growing baby show that they are viewing the life of a human being - and thankfully many hearts and minds are changed. As Americans, we have seen the evolution of rights in our country, and surely we can extend the right to life to the most innocent among us, the unborn."
